Army and
married my wife Dr. Kim. Upon honorable completion of my tour, I attended
Central
Michigan
University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. I
worked for awhile, after college, as a police officer.
This is where I first discovered the power of chiropractic
following a work related injury.
After undergoing care with my chiropractor, not only was
my pain reduced, but for the first time in years, I felt
"well".
I learned that the benefits of a healthy spine stretch
further than mere pain relief.
It didn't take long after my experiences with
chiropractic for me to realize helping people as a
chiropractor was how I wanted to spend my life.
Therefore, I attended and graduated from Palmer College
of Chiropractic in Davenport,
Iowa.
When I am not helping individuals in my office, you
will find me outdoors.
One of my favorite passions is hunting ... namely bow
hunting.
Feel free to bring in pictures of your latest trophy!
I love hearing stories, and telling my own, about the
last great hunt. I also enjoy kayaking down the river and
small lakes.
During the summer, my daughter and son are usually with
me, as we make boating a family outing.
There is not a day that goes by that I don't see at
least one of my patients out on the water, in the bait store,
or buying those last hunting supplies before the season opens.
I am so pleased and honored to be serving the people of
this great community. With helping people lead healthier lives as my goal, I
can think of no better place to be a chiropractor than my
home, Iron County.
Kimberly
Scarlassara, DC
My name is Dr. Kim
Scarlassara. I am originally from the Iron County area where I
graduated from Forest Park. I attended Central Michigan
University and graduated from there with a BSBA. I worked in
the computer science area for several years prior to the birth
of my children. After my last child was born, I experienced
significant low back pain and sought out a local chiropractor
for help. He fixed my problem in two visits. It was amazing!
It was shortly after that when my husband and I decided that
we needed a change in our careers. We both decided to attend
Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. It was the
best decision we could have made. It has given us the
opportunity to return to the area of the country that is truly
"home", Iron County, Michigan. I have been practicing here
in Iron River with my best friend, husband, and the best
doctor I know, Dr. Tony Scarlassara. We currently live in
Crystal Falls on a beautiful 78 acre farm with our children
Madison, age 9, and Gabriel, age 6. Our two dogs, Remington (a
golden retriever) and Bella (a spoiled rotten pug), also share
our home. I am so fortunate to have two great families, one at
home and my patients at work. I enjoy taking care of patients
of all ages, but I am especially honored to care for children.
I have had the honor of caring for individuals from two weeks
old to 95 years old. I also have the joy of taking care of
generations of families. I have several grandchildren,
children and grandparents that I care for. I thank you for
trusting me with yours and your family's health care. I look
forward to serving you far into the future.
Tammy
Lehr, LMT
My name is Tammy Lehr and I
am a licensed massage therapist at Northwoods Family
Chiropractic. I attended Advanced Therapy Massage School, in
Louisville, Kentucky, and have been practicing massage for the
past 10 years. I am originally from the Iron County area and
currently live here with my husband and two children. My
entire family regularly benefits from chiropractic care as
well as massage therapy.
Massage
therapy is an accepted part of many chiropractic care
programs. It has been shown to be beneficial for many
conditions including back pain, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue,
and depression. And, as millions of people will attest to,
massage also helps to relieve the stress and tension of
everyday living that can lead to disease and illness. I can
customize your massage care to meet your specific needs, and
will also work with your doctor based off of his/her
recommendations. I offer techniques that focus on muscle
trigger points, hot stone therapy, or just relaxation.
Appointments are made in 15 minute intervals beginning with 15
minutes up to 1 1/2 hours. Please call Northwoods Family
Chiropractic at (906) 265-9000 to schedule your appointment
today.
Nancy
Arcand
My
name is Nancy Arcand and I am the Office Administrator.
I was born and raised here in
Iron
River
and have recently returned to the area after several years
away. My husband
and I chose to come back to this area to work and raise our
children. I first
came to Northwoods Family Chiropractic as a patient and was
impressed with the down to earth attitude and quality of care
I received. Since
then, I have brought my entire family in for care and
appreciate the opportunity to work for such caring and
dedicated doctors.
Shauna Lohrey
My
name is Shauna Lohrey and I am the Billing Specialist. I was
born in Phoenix, AZ, and moved to Iron River when I was 5
years old. My husband Glen and I are enjoying our 14 acres on
Ottawa Lake Rd, with our four children Katelynn age 15, Ryan
age 12, and our identical twin girls Karli & Kali age 9. My
whole family is enjoying the experience of chiropractic care.
It brings a smile to my face when my family comes in
and the kids fight to see who gets adjusted first.
I am very proud to work with such wonderful and caring
doctors. Here
you're not just a patient, you're part of our family and we
are your "Family Wellness Center".
